Korea Trade Commission Granted TMEIC’s Petition to Ban Import of Uninterruptible Power Systems Products Based on Patent Infringement

TMEIC Corporation (President & CEO: Akira Kawaguchi; hereinafter, “TMEIC”) announces that in connection with its press release dated November 13, 2024, the Korea Trade Commission (KTC) at its meeting held on August 28, 2025 determined that the conducts of Fuji Electric Co., Ltd. constitute unfair trade practices and granted TMEIC’s petition.

This decision confirms that TMEIC’s patent related to its 3-level Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS) is valid and UPS7000HX-T3 manufactured and sold by Fuji Electric infringes the South Korean patent; therefore, the ban on imports to South Korea has been granted.

In addition, regarding the South Korean patent, the Korean Intellectual Property Office issued a decision on August 18, 2025 in the patent invalidation trial requested by Fuji Electric, ruling that the request is dismissed (patent is valid).

TMEIC has filed a petition for a preliminary injunction to cease patent infringement, as well as a patent infringement lawsuit (Case Nos. 2024 (Yo) 30160 / 2024 (Wa) 70454) concerning the corresponding Japanese patent with the Tokyo District Court. Proceedings are currently ongoing.
