Obtains International Certification and Starts Sales in India<\/p>\n
Toshiba Mitsubishi-Electric Industrial Systems Corporation (hereinafter, “TMEIC”; President & CEO Masahiko Yamawaki) is pleased to announce that it has obtained IECEx certification and ATEX certification (Ex ec and Ex tc) from SGS Baseefa, an international certification body, for its explosion protected motors, at TMEIC Industrial Systems India Private Limited (hereinafter, “TMIND”), a subsidiary in India. Sales of these motors for the domestic and international markets are underway

Explosion protected motors are used in such areas as transport equipment for oil and gas, petroleum refineries, petrochemical facilities, chemical synthesis plants and mines. There is risk of explosion or fire in such facilities if an electric spark or high-temperature substance comes into contact with the vapor of flammable gases and flammable liquids or combustible dust. It is essential to use explosion protected motors (motors designed to prevent explosion) in such cases in line with the level of danger. In addition, products compliant with international standards are demanded in the oil & gas and chemical industries due to their importance.<\/p>\n
Obtaining the aforementioned certification means TMEIC will be able to meet diverse customer needs in Japan and around the world, including for the oil & gas industry, by adding explosion protected motors produced at TMIND to those already being produced in Japan.<\/p>\n
Since starting operations in 2016, TMIND (Tumkur district of Bengaluru, Karnataka State), which gained the certification recently, has been taking orders in the range of several hundreds for large-capacity machinery that it delivers not only to the Indian market but also to the global market, receiving critical acclaim in the process.<\/p>\n
Going forward, TMIND will expand its product menu at its factory and provide high-quality, competitive products to countries around the world.<\/p>\n
