Accelerating Transformation and Growth toward a Carbon-Neutral Society
– President & Chief Executive Officer, Akira Kawaguchi
Contributing to a Sustainable Society through Business
The TMEIC Group sincerely appreciates the understanding and support extended to its activities. Since its founding, the TMEIC Group has operated under the corporate philosophy of building relationships of trust with customers and contributing to the sustainable development of a global society as an industrial systems integrator. In line with this mission, the Group has provided products and solutions that meet societal demands and customer needs across a wide range of end markets, contributing to the evolution of industry and the advancement of society.
As the resolution of challenges facing the global environment and society becomes an urgent priority, achieving a sustainable, carbon-neutral society has emerged as one of the most critical social issues. The technologies, products, and solutions offered by the Group accelerate decarbonization across all areas of society and industry, making business activities directly linked to the pursuit of industrial and societal sustainability.
In this era of transformation, the TMEIC Group recognizes its important responsibility to contribute to solving social challenges and remains committed to fulfilling that responsibility.
Aiming for Further Growth and Advancement on the 20th Anniversary
TMEIC marked its 20th anniversary in 2023 and, in conjunction with this milestone, established its management vision for 2030“, Growth20.” This vision is built on three core growth strategies: expansion of global business, acceleration of new business development, and steady expansion of core businesses. In addition, we are strengthening our management foundation by promoting initiatives aligned with the SDGs, focusing on enhancing corporate value and fortifying growth foundations.
Progress on the growth strategies has been steady. In fiscal 2024, both revenue and profit reached record highs on a global basis, and orders exceeded ¥400 billion for the first time.
Global business, in particular, is driving growth. In North America, demand remains strong for power conditioners for large-scale solar power systems (PVPCS) and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems for data centers, and order intake continues to be strong. A local PV-PCS manufacturing facility was established in a short period, with mass production commencing in October 2024. To meet the surge in data center construction, a new production plant for power electronics equipment is under construction.
Beyond North America, the TMEIC Group is steadily enhancing its structure for further growth, including expanding sales offices in India, Europe, and South Korea.
New business initiatives have also produced significant results. The newly developed CleanArc power supply system for steelmaking arc furnaces and theelectric propulsion system for electrified tugboats have received initial orders. The electric propulsion system incorporates newly developed high-capacity, high efficiency reluctance motors, compact water-cooled drive units, and an energy management system. In addition, the insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT)-based rectifier for hydrogen production has secured multiple orders, primarily for demonstration plants. These products and technologies are all expected to make major contributions to the realization of a carbon-neutral society.
The TMEIC Group is also building a Global Development Network (GDN) that leverages its worldwide business sites to coordinate development capabilities and resources not only in Japan but across the globe. This initiative strengthens product development tailored to regional needs, secures and expands development resources, accelerates development speed, enhances technical capabilities at global sites, and establishes a development network that connects these elements organically, improving overall development capabilities across the Group.
Enhancing Engagement in Sustainability Initiatives
The TMEIC Group has strengthened its initiatives not only in technology development and product provision but also across all environment, social, and governance (ESG) domains.
Achieving the management vision and corporate mission requires the enhancement of various management resources, with the most focus in recent years placed on investment in people. By securing personnel necessary for growth, establishing diverse training programs, and designing individual development plans for each employee, the TMEIC Group provides opportunities for growth that enhance overall capabilities, both in quality and quantity.
In addition, initiatives such as well-being initiatives, workstyle reforms, and the active utilization of diverse talent create an environment where each employee can perform autonomously, thereby establishing a foundation for sustainable corporate growth.
Alongside these human capital initiatives, the TMEIC Group continues to deepen its efforts across all aspects of sustainability. In particular, environmenthuman rights, procurement, and social contribution have been identified as priority areas. Dedicated subcommittees have been established for each area to strengthen and advance these initiatives.
Leading Transformation and Growth: Leading the World to the Next Level
The TMEIC Group strives to be a company that addresses global challenges through technology, products, and solutions. By viewing social issues as opportunities for innovation, the Group leads transformation and growth, cocreating the future of manufacturing and next-generation energy.
To achieve this, sustainability will continue to be placed at the core of
management. Alongside technological and product capabilities, the TMEIC Group will continue to strengthen human capital, field capabilities, and a global perspective, growing together with society and customers while fulfilling its mission to contribute to the realization of a carbon-neutral society.
The TMEIC Group remains committed to working with all stakeholders to create a sustainable future.
Based on its policy of conducting business activities with a strong focus on sustainability, TMEIC identified material issues with reference to domestic and international guidelines, including the Sustainability Standards Board (Japan, SSBJ) Standards and Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards. We adopted a four step process that integrates quantitative data and multiple perspectives, placing emphasis on both comprehensiveness and validity.
To address the material issues identified by TMEIC, eight sub-materialities have been established as policies and initiatives. Targets and key performance indicators (KPIs) are set for each sub-materiality to guide and advance these efforts.
