TMEIC Crane Innovation: Power, Electronics and Automation

TMEIC has shared further insight into the port and terminal industry through an interview at this year’s Container Terminal Automation Conference.

Declan Daly, General Manager for Industrial Systems at TMEIC, has explained how the company is coming up with new ideas for developing crane process automation by “cross-pollinating” different research and development teams from other industry branches within the business.

Automatic learning functions have been crossed over to its crane systems so that larger and higher cranes have improved handling for multiple containers and algorithms for anti-sway and skew control.

Daly said: “The innovations we’re looking at in TMEIC continually push the automatic stacking cranes to get higher efficiencies and higher throughput.

“We’re rolling out some new technology this year for the automatic landing on the land side with the truckers coming in.”
