TMEIC increases productivity and reduces CO2 at Khalifa Port

ROANOKE, Va. (April 22, 2019)
– TMEIC Corporation of Roanoke, VA, is proud to announce the deployment of the Maxview4D™ Automated Landside Transfer System at Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi, UAE.  This cutting-edge crane automation system provides fully autonomous landing from automatic stacking crane to over-the-road chassis improving crane cycle times and lowering truck idle times.

With experience previously gained in deployments at the two fully automated container terminals in China, TMEIC has gained a level of accomplishment and refinement with the system that is previously unknown in the industry.  The Maxview4D™ system is indeed now a mature product with great outcomes for customer adaptation.

Abu Dhabi Terminals Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Al Hameli, commented: “TMEIC control systems and drives are the heart and brains of the stacking cranes.  With this added piece of intelligence, we are more efficient as it allows us to further reduce the truck turn time and benefiting our customers.“

“We at TMEIC are honored to continue with Khalifa Port as the crane automation supplier of choice and are excited to bring the latest and greatest of our technology offerings into production at this best in class facility,” said Alan Peterson, Industry Segment Leader for Crane Systems at TMEIC.

Success for an automated landing system is determined in the number of fully automated moves made on the first try.  With Maxview4D™ Automated Landside Transfer, TMEIC has achieved an aggregate of 85% success with the system globally.  Picking up a container from a chassis is accomplished over 99% of the time on the first try.  Additionally, landing automatically to over-the-road chassis is successful on the first try over 70% of the time.  These are best-in-class numbers for the global marine container terminal industry.

Automating the LSTZ is essential to improving environmental factors, as well as helping container terminals keep up with ever-increasing vessel size and increased throughput requirements.  TMEIC’s Maxview4D™ LSTZ solution will keep terminals around the world competitive in a demanding global marketplace.
