Toshiba Mitsubishi-Electric Industrial Systems Corporation (hereinafter TMEIC) (President Masahiko Yamawaki) has obtained
Voluntary Product Certification (
VPC
)
for its PV inverter model No. PVL-L1000E-H (Input voltage: 1000V, Nominal capacity: 1.1MVA) in Taiwan. TMEIC is the first Japanese PV inverter supplier to obtain this certification.
VPC is a certification introduced by the
Bureau of Standard, Metrology, and Inspection
(BSMI) in Taiwan
to guarantee high efficiency, quality, and safety for various products. Currently, all PV plants that are newly planned for development in Taiwan are required to use PV inverters certified by VPC.
In Taiwan, the target has been set forth to increase the percentage of renewable energy up to 20% versus total power generation by 2025, whereby PV plants with 20GW-capacity are expected to be introduced. To realize this, numerous projects are in progress for introducing many utility-scale PV plants, and accordingly, there are increasing needs for central inverters suited for large-scale PV plants.
TMEIC has been supplying central inverters to address such needs in the Taiwanese market and already has delivered the SOLAR WARE STATION for outdoor use, which is a one-stop solution capable of containerizing up to four units of PV inverters, a step-up transformer, and high-voltage switchgear. The Company has a proven track record of realizing stable operation of utility-scale PV plants in Taiwan.
With the current acquisition of VPC, TMEIC will further expand its certified model lineup in order to contribute to maximizing customer benefits with the aim of acquiring the top market share in the Taiwanese PV market, which is expected to grow going forward.
